Colombia Cafe La Granja Natural Gesha
TASTING NOTES: Pineapple, Lemongrass, Blueberry
ORIGIN: Valle del Cauca, Colombia
ELEVATION: 1700- 2000m
Produced by world famous Colombian producers Cafe la Granja in the Valle Del Cauca at Finca Cerro Azul and entirely from trees of the Gesha variety of Arabica. This is a competition offering that has us all beyond excited here at modcup.
Gesha is the gold standard of coffee varietals. Originally a coffee plant indiginous to East Africa it has found optimum growing conditions in the higher altitude and micro climates of Central and South America.
There's simply nothing else like Gesha in the coffee world. Incredibly delicate, floral and sweet, if you have never tried it, it's truly revelatory.
In 2019 modcup finished 12th in the world in coffee reviews list for best roasted coffee with a Gesha from Cafe La Granja and their Cerro Azul farm. That Gesha was a washed process.
This 2022 geisha offering has gone through a natural process and is UBER exotic.
As a result of the processing, fruit flavors dominate the usual florality that one associates with the Gesha Varietal. We taste Pineapple, Berries and Lemongrass. A pronounced sweetness, a nice balance of malic and citric acidity, a silky body, and long long finish on the palate.
Fancy competing in your own home, then this is the competition coffee for you.
