About the Cup
Gura Othaya AA is a classic Kenyan coffee with a bright, fruity taste. It features juicy citrus, tangy berry, and tart black currant flavor notes. Overall, it tastes like a mix of red fruit punch, oranges, dark berries, and a touch of pineapple.

About the Processing
Ripe coffee cherries are fermented underwater for 12-24 hours. Then washed with clean spring water, soaked for another 12-24 hours, and dried on raised beds. This is an AA outturn, indicating that beans measuring 17-19 on the screen size classification are carefully separated.

About the Farm
This coffee is produced at the Gura Factory washing station, located near the Gura river. Despite its name, the "factory" is just equipped with machines to wash and depulp coffee cherries. Gura is one of 19 washing stations in the Othaya Farmer's Cooperative Society, a long-established cooperative in Kenya. The station is situated at nearly 1750 meters, with coffee grown at altitudes between 1750 and 2000 meters. In Kenya, coffee is graded by bean size, known as "out-turns." The most common grades are AA (17/64" - 19/64" screen), AB (15/64" - 17/64" screen ), and Peaberry. This particular coffee is the AA grade, which is the highest quality and commands the highest price.
