The big, juicy, fruit-forward Ethiopian naturals that made us fall in love with coffee in the first place. Those unforgettable blueberry bombs that challenged everything we thought coffee could taste like. We haven’t had one that brings us back to that feeling in a few years, and this Durato Bombe is a welcome return.

Grown high in the mountains of Sidama, this natural delivers the kind of explosive fruit character that first captured our imagination. Think ripe blueberry, juicy peach and milk chocolate, wrapped in a rich, rounded sweetness.

It’s bright, expressive and unapologetically fruity. A little nostalgia in the cup and a reminder of why we fell in love with natural Ethiopians.

Story

Founded in 2006 by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo, Daye Bensa has become an important name in Ethiopian specialty coffee. Operating across the Sidama region, the company works with local farming communities to produce coffees that showcase the area's distinctive growing conditions and exceptional coffee heritage.

This particular lot comes from 626 smallholder farmers in Durato, a village within the Bombe Kebele of the Bensa district. The village takes its name from Bombe Mountain, where coffee grows at elevations reaching 2,050 meters.

The cherries are brought to the Kontama mill, where careful natural processing develops the coffee's fruit-forward character while preserving the distinctive qualities of its origin.

This coffee undergoes a traditional natural process, allowing the fruit and seed to dry together and develop layers of sweetness and complexity.

🍒 Selective Harvesting – Coffee cherries are collected from 626 farmers in the Durato community.

☀️ Whole Cherry Drying – The cherries are sun-dried intact for 10–15 days, allowing the fruit to remain in contact with the seed.

🌿 Raised Beds – The coffee is dried on raised beds at the Kontama mill to support consistent drying.

✨ Fruit Development – The natural process contributes to a fruit-forward cup with pronounced sweetness and complexity.
