CLGE Gesha Hybrid Washed
ROAST: Light
ORIGIN: Valle del Cauca, Caicedonia, Colombia
NOTES: Jasmine, Mandarin, Honey
Floral Radiance, Citrus Lift & Honeyed Elegance
This is classic Gesha — but expanded. CGLE’s Hybrid Washed process takes the variety’s signature florality and citrus clarity and stretches it into something more layered, more expressive, and more complete.
It opens with jasmine and delicate white florals before moving into bright mandarin citrus and a soft, honeyed sweetness. As the cup cools, the florals intensify and bloom outward, revealing new layers with every sip.
The Story Behind CGLE
From Café Granja La Esperanza (CGLE), one of Colombia’s most pioneering producers, this coffee reflects generations of innovation rooted in tradition.
The Herrera family has spent decades refining both varietals and processing — cultivating Gesha across multiple farms in Valle del Cauca, where altitude, microclimate, and meticulous farming converge to produce some of the most expressive coffees in the world.
Las Margaritas, in particular, has become synonymous with high-elevation Gesha and experimental processing — a place where clarity meets controlled innovation.
Hybrid Washed – Two-Stage Fermentation, One Unified Cup
The Hybrid Washed process bridges the gap between washed precision and natural depth — using a two-stage fermentation that builds complexity while maintaining a clean, structured profile.
Whole cherries are first fermented for 19–22 hours, allowing early sugar development and aromatic formation. After depulping, the coffee undergoes a second fermentation in parchment and mucilage for approximately 35 hours — deepening sweetness and enhancing texture. The result is a cup that is transparent yet layered — floral, citrus-driven, and beautifully composed.
The Process – Precision in Motion
🍒 Selective Picking – Hand-harvested at peak ripeness
🫧 19–22 Hour Cherry Fermentation – Builds aromatic complexity
⚙️ Depulping – Prepares for secondary fermentation
⏳ 35 Hour Secondary Fermentation – In mucilage for depth and sweetness
🌡 Mechanical Drying – Carefully controlled between 35–45°C

☕ Aroma: Jasmine, white florals, and soft citrus blossom
